Nutrition plays a large role in a players ability to develop physically and mentally. Without proper fuel the body runs short and crashes. This is a great module series for all people to watch.

Nutrition fuels the athlete.   If the athlete is not using the right fuel then the body will run poorly.  14U is a great age to really start looking at how the athlete is fueling their bodies, and we need to step away from they are kids and we should not start assessing empty carbs to longer digesting carbs.  Added sugars where they do not need to be, and the epidemic of the energy drink.

Nutrition Tips

  • Eat for your goals and lifestyle.  If you want to be an elite player you must eat elite.  Eat meals made with wholesome ingredients of the highest quality.  This will involve preparing and cooking!
  • Avoid quick fixes like snack foods and fast food.  Plan ahead by a day or 2 so quality food is always available. 
  • Cartoon characters are not elite so do not eat foods with cartoon characters on the packaging.
  • Drink water.  Avoid soda pop, sports drinks, and juice that are loaded with sugar.
